Greetings Neighbor!

I am writing you on behalf of the Central Neighborhood Association (CNA). My name is Rick Rosenthal. My wife, Colleen, and I have lived with our two daughters, Annie and Katy, on South Road for 12 years.  I was elected president of the CNA at the General Meeting on November 15th, 2001.

Prior to my election there was a July 18th 2001 meeting held at Twin Pines where City Council Members Paul Wright and Terri Cook led the quest to continue the progress made by the association under Elaine Farmer, who has decided to retire from the position. Since that meeting, there have been many follow-up meetings with many concerned volunteers adding their energy towards defining what we want to accomplish as the Central Neighborhood Association.

We helped sponsor Candidates Night on October 17th 2001. That was a great opportunity to see and hear the participants in the contested races taking place in Belmont. Many in our neighborhood attended and participated towards educating all of us to make informed voting decisions.

The General Meeting was held on Thursday, November 15th at the Notre Dame High School Dining Hall. At that General meeting, we nominated and elected officers, shared the results of a survey we had compliled and mailed to the entire neighborhood and had a little time to meet one another over beverages. We had Greg Janke, the Chief of Police address us about the many concerns in our neighborhood such as traffic, speeding, parking, and minor disputes between neighbors. Greg was helpful and entertaining as he spoke on the need to become part of the process to deal with these issues.

Here is a link to our survey to help us better understand what you want out of our neighborhood association. Please take a few moments to complete this survey and send it along with this years dues ($10, $5 for Seniors/Students made payable to Central Neighborhood Association) if you choose to support CNA. Even if you choose not to join the CNA, please complete and mail the survey. We want to know what issues you feel are most important to our lives in Belmont.

I look forward to working on our neighborhood’s interests and concerns in whatever capacity I am able. Please feel free to contact me or members of the board with any questions you may have about the initial plans being laid to bolster membership and participation within our neighborhood.

Best Regards,

Rick Rosenthal
